A fancy dress disco with a difference in Kettering raised more than £3,000 for a dog rescue centre.

The Filthy Mutts charity fundraiser took place on Saturday, June 27 at the Corn Market Hall in London Road in aid of the Animal Helpline dog rescue centre in Wansford, near Oundle.

There was a disco, bar, raffle and prize for the best animal costume.

Organiser Lino Giordano said: “The dog rescue disco went great!

“We made well over £3,000 for Animal Helpline in tickets and raffle tickets, which will pay for some of their vet bills for the dogs and also go towards some kennels being rebuilt.

“I paid more than £400 using money from my fashion label, which uses materials and art media which are against animal testing of any kind, for the whole event from the hall to the DJ to the snacks and nibbles.

“I would also like to thank businesses such as Crystal Tips in Montagu Street, Jolleys pet store and Davis Opticians and other high street stores for prizes.”
