Weddings are commonplace at Kelmarsh Hall but for the first time, the hall is the venue for some nuptials with a difference – a Roman-themed wedding organised by three children for their mum and dad.
The special wedding is part of a CBBC series, Marrying Mum and Dad – a show where children enlist the help of CBBC presenters to plan the best wedding ever for their unmarried parents, all in the space of two weeks.
Mums and dads know they are getting married but they are in for a surprise when they discover the imaginative themes their children have chosen for their big day.
Kelmarsh will appear on the show on Tuesday, August 21, when Georgie, Nate and Maddie from Northamptonshire surprise their parents Tony and Jeni Minutolo with a wedding with a twist.
A horse-drawn chariot replaces the more conventional wedding car and there is even a gladiator sword-fight for entertainment.
Wedding co-ordinator Jill Doughty said: “We’ve never seen a wedding like it here at Kelmarsh.
“It was great working with the three children – they had lots of creative ideas and were really keen to organise a special day to remember.
“We couldn’t wait to see what everything looked like on the day and what Tony and Jeni would make of it.”
Watch the special day unfold by tuning in to the CBBC channel on August 21 at 9.30am and repeated at 3.30pm.
