Shoppers in Corby had a shock on Saturday when they got a glimpse of Kate Middleton lookalike Heidi Agan.
Heidi was at the town’s H Samuel shop, in Corporation Street, helping out at a wedding event the store was running.
To complete the illusion, she arrived in a white Rolls Royce and the shop rolled out a red carpet to greet her.
Mum-of-two Heidi quit her job at Frankie and Benny’s in Kettering last year to become a full-time double of the Duchess of Cambridge and since then says her new role has seen her turn heads on both sides of the Atlantic.
She added: “I’ve been to New York and been on television in the US. I also go to London quite a lot for events and Manchester.
“It’s completely changed my life from a year ago.”
Heidi says she has been even more busy since the Duchess announced she was pregnant, and in a bid to maintain the image she has recently started wearing a fake baby bump under her dress.
She added: “Transforming myself into Kate in the morning takes a long time. My hair takes ages, but I have to spend a lot of time on it because her hair always looks so great.
“At first I would go to the hairdressers for every event, but I do all the hair and make-up myself now.”
Heidi said she has not yet perfected the Duchess of Cambridge’s accent.
She added: “I’m originally from Birmingham, so it would be a lot of hard work to copy her accent as well.”
Dawn Kemp, assistant manager at H Samuel, said: “There have been a lot of double-takes as people have walked past. The reaction has been brilliant.”
