The Higham Ferrers Twinning Association is appealing for a new family to join the organisation.
A party of 33 visitors from Higham’s twin town of Hachenburg will be in England from July 26 to 29.
Gill Mercer, Chairman of the Twinning Association said: “The Twinning arrangement costs the public purse nothing and has been going for 22 years. The twinners alternate each year between visits to Germany and to the UK.
“Hachenburg is about the same size as Higham Ferrers and is set in a beautiful wooded area called the Westerwald. This is about an hour from the river Rhine and visits are often made to this area, as it is so picturesque.
“We are looking for a family who could accommodate either a couple and their teenage son or a lady with her granddaughter.
Ideally, the host family would include a young person, but this is not an essential. Knowledge of the German language is also unnecessary. We have all made such good friends over the years.
“Twinning is about learning how other people live and coming to understand their customs and different ways they do things. We are very pleased that they are now able to bring a number of young people, as that way we hope that the tradition will be carried on.
“During their visit they will be visiting Bourton on the Wold in the Cotswolds and having a barbecue and a get-together.”
