Everyone is invited to join the party as Higham Ferrers celebrates the Queen’s 90th birthday today (Saturday).

People are invited to attend a free event taking place at the Saffron Road Recreation Ground in the town between 2pm and 6pm today.

There will be live entertainment 1920s style as well as side shows and stalls.

Refreshments will be available, but anyone attending is welcome to take a picnic along with food, drinks and a blanket just in case the weather isn’t too good.

The event has been organised by Higham Ferrers Town Council and the Higham Ferrers Tourism, Business and Community Partnership.

More than 100 flags will be flying around the town in honour of the Queen’s birthday celebrations.

People are being asked to help decorate the picnic area with bunting, preferably red, white and blue, or to decorate their house or business for the occasion.

It is also hoped that anyone attending the event will take their family and friends with them, as well as asking their neighbours to join in so everyone can enjoy the celebrations.
