Kettering Council has invited people to join hundreds of other participants in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Sunday, March 23.
The run, which starts in the town’s Market Place, starts with a mass warm-up at noon followed by the run at 12.30pm. You can run, walk or hop 1 mile, 3 miles or 6 miles.
Half of the money raised by Sport Relief is spent in the UK, with the remainder distributed worldwide to help vulnerable and disadvantaged people.
Entries are accepted on the day or online, with a charge of £6 for adults, £3 for children and £15 for family tickets. The entry fee covers the cost of putting on the event only, and does not include a donation.
Valerie Hitchman, Kettering Council’s head of community services, said: “It doesn’t matter how fit you are, this event is for a great cause and it has a wonderful community vibe every year.”
Cllr Jan Smith, portfolio holder for community and culture, added: “Sport Relief is a fantastic cause, and this enables adults and children alike to enjoy sport, to aim for a goal and go on a healthy journey together and for everyone to have some fun.”
