A disco will take place at Rushden Bowls Club on Saturday, February 23, to raise funds for local charity, the Swivel Club.

Rock n’ Roll Star Johnny Red will perform and BBC Radio Northampton DJ, Bernie Keith will be spinning the discs on the night.

The Rushden and Higham Ferrers-based Swivel Club raises funds to support local people in need, and in 2012 the club raised more than £20,000.

This money paid for wheelchairs, converted a garden for an MS suffer, helped to provide a wet room and lift for a motor neurone sufferer, donated to local hospices, supplied mobility scooters, and helped two local families raise funds for their daughters to have life changing treatments.

Swivel Club Chairman Rodney Waterfield said: “Both Johnny Red and Bernie Keith have been big supporters of the Swivel Club and we really appreciate all the efforts they make for us.

“We have appeared on Bernie’s radio show, it was nerve racking but a brilliant way for people to learn more about the Swivel Club. This is our first event of the New Year and we are pleased to be kicking it off in style.”

The show kicks off at 7.30pm at the Bowls Club. Tickets cost £10.
