Jasna Hanger from Wellingborough is in the frame to win a top modelling contract after being selected from more than 4,000 hopefuls to become the Anglia Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2012.

The 19-year-old administrator beat off competition from seven other specs-wearing fashionistas from across the region at the semi-final, held at Specsavers in Bedford on Monday (August 6).

Jasna said: “It’s an incredible feeling. I can’t believe that a trip to Specsavers Wellingborough for an eye test has got me a place in the final of a modelling competition.

“I’m getting excited about my trip to London. I’m really proud to be representing the Anglia region at the final.

“It’s also great to be recognised as a specs wearer, especially now that glasses are considered a must-have accessory. I love wearing my specs, they really reflect my personality and mood.”

Jasna will strut down the catwalk at the glitzy, star-studded grand final at London’s iconic Battersea Power Station on Tuesday, October 30.

Specsavers’ style ambassador and TV fashion guru Gok Wan will host the evening awards ceremony, while a panel of industry experts will judge contestants’ specs appeal.

Tina Bury from Specsavers said: “We think that Jasna looks fabulous in her specs and can’t wait to see how she gets on at the London grand final. She is a terrific ambassador for specs-wearers everywhere.”

This year’s grand final winner will scoop a 12-month modeling contract with MOT Models and a two-week premier, all-inclusive holiday for two in Barbados courtesy of Virgin Holidays and Almond Resorts, with £250 worth of spending money.

The winner will also receive a makeover with TV celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barton, a year’s supply of skincare products from Simple, a goody bag including hair and skincare products, a £150 Specsavers eyecare voucher and the Spectacle Wearer of the Year trophy.

Last year, Specsavers raised more than £20,000 for anti-bullying charity Kidscape, by donating £1 for every eligible entry received in the competition. All proceeds will help Kidscape continue their valuable work with children and young people.
