Jasna Hanger from Wellingborough could be in the frame to win a top modelling contract after being selected from hundreds of hopefuls to become a regional semi-finalist in a Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2012 competition.

The 19-year-old student will strike a pose alongside nine specs-wearing fashionistas from across the region at the semi-final, which will be held at Specsavers in Bedford on August 6.

Jasna said: “I’ve been wearing my glasses since I was nine and I feel very happy and confident in them. I’m thrilled to be going to the regional final. I never thought that being a specs wearer would help me win the chance to model and when I entered online, I never imagined I would get through. It would be amazing to make it to the final and wave the flag for Wellingborough.”

If successful, Jasna could find herself strutting down the catwalk at the glitzy, star-studded grand final at London’s iconic Battersea Power Station on October 30.

Specsavers’ style ambassador and TV fashion guru Gok Wan will host the evening awards ceremony, while a panel of industry experts will judge contestants’ specs appeal.

This year’s grand final winner will win a 12-month modeling contract with MOT Models and a two-week all-inclusive holiday for two in Barbados courtesy of Virgin Holidays and Almond Resorts, with £250 worth of spending money.

The winner will also get a makeover with TV celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barton, a year’s supply of skincare products from Simple, a goody bag including hair and skincare products, a £150 Specsavers eyecare voucher and the Spectacle Wearer of the Year trophy.

Last year, Specsavers raised more than £20,000 for anti-bullying charity Kidscape, by donating £1 for every eligible entry received in the competition. All proceeds will help Kidscape continue their valuable work with children and young people.
