Jamaican swimmers to train at town pool

Corby is set to welcome Jamaican swimmer Alia Shanee Atkinson back to the town before she and fellow swimmers head off to Glasgow to compete in the Commonwealth Games.

Alia, 25, first trained at Corby pool in July 2012 before the London Olympics.

This time she will be joined by eight other swimmers, three from her Miami-based swimming team and five from the Jamaican Amateur Swimming Association.

They will arrive in Corby on Tuesday when they will be welcomed by mayor Cllr Anthony Dady.

The squad will leave for Glasgow on Monday, July 21.
