A couple who fell in love at first sight are celebrating 50 years of marriage.
Jen and Sid Scott have lived in Irchester since they married on March 25, 1967.
The pair met when Mr Scott, 73, travelled down to Bromley to perform with the Salvation Army band.
Mrs Scott, 71, said: “Sid played the cornet for the Salvation Army and they came down to Bromley, where I lived.
“You could say it was love at first sight.
“I remember being very nervous [on my wedding day] but it was a fantastic day.”
The couple celebrated their anniversary at a surprise party at the Stags Head in Great Doddington with their family.
Mrs Scott, a retired office worker, said that their secret to reaching the golden milestone was “not arguing too much, but sorting it out when they did”.
The Scotts were caught up in a terror attack in Tunisia in 2015, but Mrs Scott added that this made them stronger.
She said: “We were there as a group and I remember it well.
“It wasn’t very nice but the incident made us stronger as a family.”
Son Graeme added his congratulations to his parents’ achievement.
He said: “I’m just thrilled to bits for them and all of them family love them so much.
“We have been through a lot with the Tunisia incident but we have stuck together and the family is as strong as ever.”
