THE county’s newest overseas cricket star bowled the first ball when a club unveiled its new £44,500 practice nets.
South African Con de Lange, who is Northamptonshire Cricket Club’s new signing, bowled the first ball when Thrapston Cricket Club officially unveiled the nets on Sunday.
Club secretary Joanne Thurbon said: ”We had a good turn-out and the nice weather really helped.
“They couldn’t practice before while there was a game on, and there is a match played nearly every day in the summer.”
The new nets will provide players with more opportunities to practise.
The club won the funding for the nets from the England and Wales Cricket Board and Sport England for their encouragement of female participation in the sport.
