Family, friends and neighbours all popped round to say happy birthday to Annie Clulow, who is 100 today (Sunday, December 2).
Mrs Clulow, of Broadway, Kettering, was born in the Lake District and moved to Kettering with her husband in 1934. She has two daughters, Barbara and Judy, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Her eldest daughter, Barbara, said: “My mother has an indomitable spirit. She played bowls into her 80s, bridge into her 90s and used to play tennis. She was a great singer and was a founder member of Kettering Theatrical Society.
“She was absolutely delighted to get a card from the Queen and asked me how she knew. She was equally pleased to get one from Iain Duncan-Smith at the Department of Work and Pensions who helped me organise the card from the Queen.
“We had a low-key party on Saturday and today we’re having an open house and her neighbours and friends are popping round.”
