Hundreds of guides and scouts parade

MORE than 300 scouts and guides from across East Northamptonshire will take part in a parade and service in Rushden on Sunday, April 22.

Nene Valley District Scouts and Rushden and Higham Guide Division will be taking part in the parade and service, which will start at Hall Park at about 2.20pm, and be led by Grafton District Scout Band.

Beavers, rainbows, cubs, brownies, scouts, guides, explorer scouts and young leaders will all be taking part in the event.

Before they leave the park, members of the parade will release doves as a symbol of peace and unity. The route will then see the troupe journey to Park Road Baptist Church for a service, where they will renew their promises.

The service will also have an Olympics theme to celebrate this year’s London Games.

During the service a collection will be held in aid of the Evening Telegraph’s Little Extra Appeal for the Children Ward at Kettering General Hospital. The scouts and guides group wished to thank Reverend Martyn Thorne for his assistance and the use of the church.
