A 100-year-old has been joined by family and friends to celebrate her reaching the milestone.

Kath Newton, who lives at Shaw care home Lancum House in Wellingborough, marked the occasion on Sunday afternoon.

The party was also joined by Wellingborough mayor Cllr Graham Lawman, who gave Kath an engraved silver photograph frame.

The youngest of four children, she spent her married life in Finedon, where she and her husband brought up their three children.

She worked until she was 70 and said she aimed to instil a productive work ethic into her children.

Kath said: “I’ve had a lovely day, I honestly don’t feel any different being 100.”

Kath’s daughter Dawn added: “Mum has always been a hard worker, working till she was 70 years old at the Ideal restaurant.”
