Bemused drivers were brought to a halt after a number of horses went for an afternoon gallop – on the A6 between Desborough and Rothwell.

The incident happened on the bypass heading towards Market Harborough at about 3.15pm yesterday (Sunday).

Police were called after six or seven large horses were spotted trotting along the busy stretch of road.

A police spokesman said: “We received reports of six or seven large horses trotting along the A6 towards Harborough.

“We did send someone out but by the time they got there they had been recovered by their owner.”
