THE victims of honour killings are to be discussed at a conference for more than 90 people in Northamptonshire.
The conference, which will focus on the victim’s journey, is the first to be organised by the Honour Based Violence Group in partnership with Northamptonshire Against Domestic Abuse. It will take place at Northamptonshire Police Headquarters at Wootton Hall, Northampton, on Wednesday.
During the conference, two victims will share their experience of how forced marriages have impacted on their lives.
The event aims to raise awareness of honour based violence among professionals and increase their understanding of its impact on the victims, their families and communities.
Det Insp Andy Glenn, who chairs the Honour Based Violence Group, said: “It is really important that people working in policing, health, education and the voluntary sector are aware of honour based violence and understand how they can support the people affected by it.”
