An application to build 72 homes on the site of a former Kettering school has been submitted.
Avondale Junior School, in Laburnum Crescent, shut in summer last year.
Some of the school land was given to a neighbouring nursery but the remainder was to be sold off to help meet the shortfall in the cost of the Kettering Buccleuch Academy building.
Northamptonshire County Council has now forwarded plans to demolish Avondale Junior School and construct the new homes.
The plans include a green area which would be used as a sports pitch and a children’s playground.
A decision on the scheme is due in October.
