An animal charity based in Irchester said it needs to re-home 60 cats which have been brought to them in recent weeks.

Animals In Need says they have been flooded with cats and are almost at the point of having to send some to a cattery as they are running out of space.

Manager Annie Marriott said: “I think a lot of people aren’t getting their cats neutered because of the cost, even though they can get vouchers from the RSPCA.

“Five more were left here last night.

“Today I will take some of out vaccinated cats to a cattery to make space for the abandoned ones, which will cost us a fortune.”

Anyone who would like to re-home one of the cats is asked to phone 01933 278080 or visit www.animals-in-need.org.
