Homegrown talent and top entertainers will ensure there’s something for everyone in The Core theatre’s spring season.
From drama and the spoken word, to comedy, music, dance and first rate children’s entertainment, it’s all included in the packed programme of entertainment.
Corby singers, dancers, actors and musicians will show off their talents in the Local Artists Showcase for 2014, an annual highlight featuring original work.
Young people who have been taking part in The Core’s wide range of Get Involved sessions will present Corby Youth Arts Slam and the theatre’s young actors group will preview work they have developed in collaboration with a young company from Mumbai, India, which they will later perform at the international festival, Contacting The World, in Manchester.
The Core will also host Corby Gang Show, Lodge Park Academy’s Back To The ‘80s production, the annual show from Suzanne’s Street Dance and Wilbarston’s Youth Brass 2000, winner of BBC Radio 2 Youth Brass Band of the Year competition.
A spokesman for The Core said: “Other highlights include the hilarious hit play about Morecambe and Wise, Eric And Little Ern, the spectacular stars Of Strictly Come Dancing, Pasha Kovalev and Katya Virshilas, as well as stand up comedy from Mark Thomas and Lee Hurst.”
During the very first national Shakespeare Week, The Core is to host performances of China Plate’s Macbeth – Blood Will Have Blood, an introduction to the Bard specifically for schools.
World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty and British champion James Whitham, two legends of motorbike racing, will appear in Foggy & Whit – Givin’ It Gas.
Singer Barb Jungr will also give her spin on the songs of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.
