A GARDEN party at a residential care home run by Northamptonshire Association for the Blind has raised more than £800.

It was held at the Darsdale Residential Home in Raunds last Saturday and was opened by the town’s deputy mayor Cllr Tony Boto.

Hundreds joined residents and staff at the home for the special event.

The charity’s marketing manager Stefanie Weldon said: “The fete was a great success. We have raised over £800 and are really pleased that so many people came out to support us.

“I would like to thank everyone that was involved, from those who donated items, to everyone that gave up time to volunteer.

“I would especially like to thank the Wellingborough Music and Arts Centre Concert Band for performing some great music throughout the event, they were superb.”

There were also a variety of stalls and games, strawberry cream teas, a tombola and a barbecue.

NAB’s Mobile Sight Centre also welcomed visitors onboard for information and equipment, while dogs and puppies in training from the Wellingborough branch of Guide Dogs were popular with adults and children alike.
