National record shop chain HMV is to close its Kettering branch because, the firm says, it has been unable to agree terms with the landlord of the unit.
The firm says six staff employed at the Newlands Centre store are being consulted as part of an attempt to redeploy them to another branch.
A spokesman for the firm said: “The HMV Kettering store will cease trading on January 25, 2014, as we have not been able to agree appropriate terms with the landlord, despite our best endeavours.
“The staff working at HMV Kettering are now in consultation as we attempt to re-deploy those affected to alternate stores if possible. HMV would like to take this opportunity to pass on our sincere thanks to all of our customers in Kettering for their support over the years and to thank the team in the HMV store for their contribution and dedication.”
