A caring pair from Higham Ferrers are in the running for awards recognising outstanding work looking after elderly people.

Sarah Howard and Lynne Delbridge, who both work for Home Instead Senior Care in Higham Ferrers are finalists in the East of England Care Awards 2014.

Part of the Great British Care Awards, the awards are held each year across the UK and recognise and pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.

Sarah is a finalist in the Home Care Worker Award category and Lynne in the Care Trainer Award category. The pair will learn if they are winners at a glitzy awards evening being held at the Peterborough Arena on October 25.

Sarah was nominated by her boss, Mark Darnell, who has admired her dedication in providing outstanding care to her clients over the last two years. He is particularly proud of the way in which she has consistently kept a level head and acted with sheer professionalism when facing some particularly stressful and upsetting situations.

Lynne, who joined the team as an experienced carer nearly two years ago, was rapidly recognised for her energetic and enthusiastic approach to training the team of caregivers.

Mark said: “Lynne has made a huge difference to both the confidence and skill set of our caregivers and it is clear that her forte lies in training. Since joining the team Lynne has identified and delivered new training programmes, which have made a real difference to the day to day lives of our clients, in particular to those who require specialised support.”

Mark added: “It is a real honour to make it to the finals of these prestigious awards which celebrate excellence in the care sector. I am very proud of Sarah and Lynne and we all have our fingers crossed for October 25th.”
