High winds cause bin collection problems in Corby

High winds have caused problems with bin collections in Corby today (Saturday).

Residents whose black bins were supposed to be collected on Friday had been asked to leave them out today instead because of changes to the rota over the festive period.

However, the blustery weather has forced the closure of Corby’s landfill site and the lorries have been directed to Northampton instead.

A spokesman for Corby Council said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to residents.

“We have collected about 70 per cent of the bins but have been unable to pick up the rest.

“Anyone whose bin should have been emptied but has not is asked to leave them out again before 7am on Monday.”
