A STATELY home is to be the first venue in the area to host a gardening event with the UK’s leading horticultural charity.

Kelmarsh Hall will hold a heritage gardening day on April 17, as part of the Royal Horticultural Society’s National Gardening Week.

The event will include a question and answer session with RHS experts as well as demonstrations, talks and a heritage seed swap.

Head gardener Esther McMillan said: “It’s the first time we have a held an RHS event of this kind.”

House tours are also available, as well as afternoon tea.

Admission to the event is £5 for adults and £4.50 concessions. Members of the RHS can attend for free.
