PEOPLE are being invited to put forward their stories of Wellingborough in writing or put themselves forward to take part in a story share session to help shape a new play on the town.
The Castle theatre in Wellingborough has commissioned playwright Deborah Gearing to write a play called ‘Well...rough’, based on the Wellingborough road signs which were defaced last year. The idea of the show is to present the real Wellingborough, past and present, from the people who know it the best.
People can send their tales of Wellingborough in by letter or email or put themselves forward to share their stories verbally at one of a number of sessions which will take place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week.
The show’s director Sarah Chiswell-Hornett said: “We would really like to encourage people to send them in.
“When people handwrite them they have nice little bits written in their own voice.”
Well...rough will be performed as the theatre’s community production for the year.
To submit stories and memories of Wellingborough write to Sarah Chiswell-Hornett, The Castle, Wellingborough, NN8 1XA or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are interested in taking part in a story share session call Sarah on 01933 221847.
