Travel staff in Raunds are aiming to spread some Christmas cheer to needy youngsters over the festive period.

The Anglia Co-operative Travel team at Brook Street, Raunds, are aiming to fill Santa’s suitcase with toys, books and games – and they need your help.

Your contributed gifts will then be delivered to Spurgeons, and help towards the charity’s Christmas donations.

Travel branch manager Laura Haggar said: “This is the first time we have done a Santa’s suitcase and we are delighted that we can help and support a local charity.

“We are officially launching the fundraising campaign on Sunday, November 24th. The Christmas lights are being turned on that day so the town will be nice and busy.”

Sue Ashall, customer care manager for Spurgeons, said: “We are extremely grateful to all the hard work being done by the travel staff at Anglia Co-operative Travel.

“The gifts will be distributed to our Strawberry Fields Children’s Centre and our Holly Blue Centre.

“All the gifts are gratefully received, and it’s so nice to know that people take an interest in us and want to help.”

You can take your gifts of new toys, books or games into the travel branch, which is open Monday to Saturday, between 9am and 5.30pm. The appeal ends on Wednesday, December 18.
