VOLUNTEERS are being asked to help support Northamptonshire’s 200-year-old canal network.
A Waterway Partnership has been formed and will assist with the transition of the county’s canals when they leave British Waterways and become part of the Canal and River Trust this summer.
People are being encouraged to join the partnership and have their say on improvement and development of the waterways.
John Best, chairman of the South East Waterway Partnership, said: “The canals and rivers in the South East have a fascinating history and are a real asset to our communities today.
“I welcome the opportunity to enable local people and organisations to have a real say in supporting their improvement and development.”
