The Corby firm owned by Heather Mills will be giving away free vegetarian food this month.

The Redwood Wholefood Company is holding an open tasting day at its factory in Burkitt Road on the Earlstrees industrial estate.

The firm, which was recently named the UK’s most ethical vegetarian food company by consumer handbook The Good Shopping Guide, is holding the event on Thursday, January 26, specifically for Corby people.

Lee Rockingham, of Redwood, said: “We’ll be cooking up all sorts of tasty foods, from pizzas and burgers to hot dogs and wraps.

“What we want to do is show shoppers and businesses in our home town just how many different products we produce here and give them the chance to try before they buy.”

People can go along from 11am until 7pm on the day and sample the company’s vegetarian and vegan products.

Anyone who buys anything on the day will receive a 15 per cent discount.

A spokesman for the company said it is not yet known if Heather will be attending the open day as she may be out of the country.

Redwood exports products all over the world.

The food is produced with 100 per cent natural plant-based ingredients which are free of meat, eggs, dairy, lactose and artificial colourings and preservatives.

On the free food sampling day people will be able to tuck into a variety of items, including meat-free turkey-style roasts, award-winning sausages, dairy-free cheeses, as well as gourmet burgers, hot dogs and Southern Fried “chicken”.
