People living in Corby are being invited to a meeting to learn about plans for health care in the town.

NHS Corby Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is organising a public event to tell people about its plans for a sustainable future for health care services in Corby.

The event will be held in Corby Cube on Tuesday, January 28, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

In October, NHS Corby CCG, the organisation responsible for commissioning health services for the residents of Corby, met members of the public and set out the major challenges facing the NHS both nationally and locally. The event gave people the opportunity to have their say on how local health services can be improved and sustained for them and their families.

The public event later this month will give commissioners the chance to show how they have listened to feedback and used this to help shape their commissioning plans for local health services for 2014-15.

The event will start with a presentation on the Healthier Northamptonshire Programme, which brings together public sector organisations to improve health and social care services in the county whilst tackling some of the biggest challenges it has ever faced. The strategy includes ambitions to ensure there is sustainable healthcare; bring care closer to home; transform the quality of primary care and reduce unnecessary admissions into local hospitals.

The chairman of NHS Corby CCG, Dr Pete Wilczynski, said: “We know that both health and social care in the county are facing significant pressures. We need to work together to ensure our strategy reflects the needs of the population we serve. We are keen that the public have the opportunity to have their say from an early stage and welcome people to our public event to hear our plans and tell us their views.”

The event is free and includes light refreshments.
