A couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary by sharing a strawberry tea with their friends.
John, 88, and Jean Fisher enjoyed their diamond anniversary yesterday at their home in Rushden.
Mr Fisher originally came from Cumbria and Mrs Fisher was born in Greenwich.
The couple met after Mr Fisher was demobbed from the Navy and were married about 18 months later.
They moved to Rushden in 1996 to be nearer their son.
Mrs Fisher, 81, nee Evans, said: “We’ve had our letter from the Queen which we’re really thrilled about and we had some friends over for a strawberry tea.
“We tend to agree on most things which I think makes life easier. I have no regrets and would do it all over again if I could.”
Mr Fisher previously worked as a die caster and Mrs Fisher worked as a bank clerk.
Their anniversary party was organised by carers from Home Instead Senior Care East Northants.
Mrs Fisher said: “I thought it was lovely that Home Instead organised the party for us – they must think a lot of us.”
