A great-grandmother has raised hundreds of pounds for a hospital used by patients from the north of the county after collecting donations instead of presents for her 90th birhday.
Joyce Reynolds, of Russell Way, Higham Ferrers, raised £500 for Leicester Royal Infirmary, which offers cancer treatment to patients from the north of the county, with donations from her friends and relatives earlier this month.
Mrs Reynolds said: “I was ever so pleased.”
The family held a party for Mrs Reynolds at Higham Sports and Social Club in Linnetts Lane, Higham Ferrers, on Friday, March 16.
About 70 friends and relatives went to the party and donated money for the hospital.
Mrs Reynolds said her granddaughter had taken the cheque to the hospital.
