Three friends from Corby will be running 60 miles on Saturday in the London 2 Brighton Challenge to raise funds for a charity close to their hearts.
Leon Moxam, Craig Fuller and Mark Risby will be raising funds for the Ectodermal Dysplasia Society.
Mr Moxam’s daughter Gracie has incontinentia pigmenti, a rare genetic disorder, which affects the skin, eyes, hair, teeth, nails and brain. The society has supported the family and the runners hope to repay it by raising £2,500.
Mr Moxam, 33, who lives on the Oakley Vale estate, said: “The genetic disorder is so rare, many doctors can’t diagnose it in its early stages.
“Once diagnosed, my wife Nikki was put in contact with the society. It put us in contact with geneticists, dermatologists and neurologists, who Gracie sees on a regular basis.
“Running the marathon, with the support of Craig and Mark is just a tiny contribution back to a society which helps my family and others.”
