A two-year-old girl was airlifted to a specialist hospital after badly scalding her leg.

The Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) was called out to the incident at a house in Wellingborough on Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesman for the charity said: “We had received reports from East Midlands Ambulance Service of a two-year old girl who had sustained a significant scald to the leg and required immediate transfer to the nearest emergency children’s hospital.

“The crew took off from their base at 2.52pm and arrived near to the scene of the incident 15 minutes later.

“The patient was quickly passed over to the air ambulance crew, who flew her to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further treatment.

“The crew landed at the hospital shortly after 3.30pm.”

WNAA provides a rapid means of transport to the hospital most suited to treat the casualty’s specific injuries and illnesses.
