A 17-year-old girl suffered head injuries after being thrown from a motorbike in Kettering.

The girl was travelling on a motorcycle when it was in collision with a red Renault Clio in Montagu Street at the junction of Thorngate Street in Kettering just before 5.30pm yesterday (Monday).

A police spokesman said: “As a result a 17-year-old girl was thrown off the bike.

“The air ambulance attended and the victim was taken to Kettering General Hospital with head injuries.

“The rider of the motorcycle, a 19-year-old man, ran from the scene but was later arrested by officers.

“He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.”

Officers would like to hear from witnesses and in particular anybody who saw a man running from the incident.

The spokesman added: “We would also like to thank members of the public who assisted at the scene, in particular an off-duty paramedic who gave initial treatment to the victim at the roadside.”

Iain Mack sent us this picture from the scene as emergency services helped those involved.
