A girl suffered injuries to her face and back after a tree branch fell on her.

A crew from Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) had to battle the wet and windy weather on Friday afternoon to get to the 10-year old girl in Hayes Wood near Sywell.

She had sustained facial and back injuries after the branch fell on her while walking in the area.

East Midlands Ambulance Service was first on the scene. The crew quickly immobilised the patient before transferring her to a land ambulance out of the rain.

A spokesman for the WNAA said: “We were tasked to the incident at around 3.40pm and landed at the scene 18 minutes later.

“The crew from WNAA provided advanced pain relief before transferring the patient to the aircraft where she was then taken to University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire.”

In 2013, WNAA lost just one and a half days’ worth of flying due to poor weather conditions.
