A town is gearing up to have a 10-day celebration to show what it has to offer and shine a spotlight on the groups and organisations based there.

Get To Know Rushden is returning after being so successful with its inaugural event last year, starting with Independents’ Day to celebrate everything the High Street has to offer and including Party In The Park on July 12.

This year will follow a similar set-up, although it is hoped more groups, especially schools, will sign up to let others know about what the town has to offer.

Cllrs Richard Lewis and Janet Pinnock are organising it with the support of Rushden Town Council.

Cllr Lewis said: “Last year was a success so we decided we would repeat it.”

Groups already signed up include Rushden Historical Transport Society, Park Road Baptist Church, D B Shoes, Waitrose, Asda and the Salvation Army.

Any group which has a display, event or talk will receive publicity in the programme, which will be distributed to every household in Rushden ahead of the event which runs from July 4 until July 13.

Anyone wanting to get involved can attend the next meeting at 7.30pm on April 9 at Rushden Hall.
