Singers are needed for a choir which will have just six weeks to prepare for a performance at this year’s Get To Know Rushden event.
The Six Week Choir will be coached by a professional choirmaster and based at the Heritage Church in Park Road, Rushden.
Anyone is welcome to join in, with their efforts resulting in a performance on Sunday, July 13, at the Heritage Church where they will be joined by more town choirs for the concert.
This is just one of many events planned for Get To Know Rushden, taking place from July 4 until July 13.
The event, now in its second year, aims to showcase the numerous groups, clubs and organisations based in the town. More than 40 people from 30 organisations attended the most recent planning meeting.
Returning to this year’s programme is the soap box derby on Friday, July 4, at Hall Park.
Service Six has joined forces with The Prince’s Trust to organise the event, which sees soap boxes timed as they negotiate a course down the main drive in Hall Park.
Alfred Sargent Shoes in Portland Road is offering tours of its factory again this year, but they must be booked in advance.
In conjunction with Get To Know Rushden, the firm is also organising a competition for pupils from Rushden schools to design a shoe.
The winning design will be manufactured by Sargent’s, and students will be encouraged to go along and see how the shoes are manufactured.
