REHEARSALS are in full flow for a new show featuring music from the 1950s and ‘60s.
Rockin’ Around the Clock is billed as a fitting tribute to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and shows will start this month at Wicksteed Park in Kettering.
Leading producer Katie Ashby has previously worked on other popular shows, including Ocean’s Eleven, The D-Day Darlings and The Bombshell Babes.
Miss Ashby said: “We have a fantastic reputation for putting on great shows at Wicksteed and people rightly expect to be thoroughly entertained, so the pressure is always on. But it really is lots of fun.”
For Rockin’ Around The Clock, she will be collaborating with Jarek Pyk, former musical director for Loose Women’s Jane McDonald.
The show will be performed by a cast of West End dancers, singers and musicians, and will include renditions of classic songs such as Rock Around The Clock, Always On My Mind, Que Sera Sera, These Boots Were Made For Walkin’ and The Twist.
John Roberts, Wicksteed Park’s managing director, said: “Whether you were brought up in the ‘50s and ‘60s or simply love the music from those decades, this show is for you.
“So let’s turn back the clock and bring back the good old days.”
The popular Songs That Won The War also returns this year.
The show takes a trip back in time through the music which helped motivate people during the hardships of the Second World War.
Mr Roberts said: “We have worked tremendously hard over the years to make our shows the best around, offering a great combination of superb entertainment and great food.
“I am sure that our shows will prove to be a smash hit with audiences of all ages.”
