Children and young people are invited to join the Get Involved programme at The Core theatre, Corby, where a new term of weekly classes starts this week (Monday, April 22).

It offers sessions in dance, drama and digital arts, as well as week-long courses during school holidays.

This term’s Get Involved programme includes Moves street dance led by local dance school owner Leah Waterfield, musical theatre with professional musical director Tracey Richards and Sparks Junior Youth Theatre working on drama, story-telling and movement with theatre-maker Emma Boulton-Roe.

The Core Company Youth Theatre will be creating original drama with the theatre’s creative projects manager Lisa Byrne and Clicks Film Production will be making a film under the direction of Martin Steed.

During the half-term holiday in May there will be a Charlie And The Chocolate Factory-themed Play In A Week course to keep budding thespians aged from eight to 12 busy in the school break.

Lisa, who oversees the programme, said: “Get Involved offers a wide range of high quality creative experiences for children and young people aged from five to 25, with courses becoming more popular each term as word spreads.

“It’s great to see increasing numbers of local children and young people making the most of the opportunities here at The Core.”

Each course comprises of 10 weekly sessions and costs £30. The Play In A Week course will run from Tuesday, May 28 to Friday, 31 May, and will cost £60.
