Companies and individuals are being encouraged to sign up to a county-wide programme which encourages workplaces to engage in sport and physical activity.
The Workplace Challenge offers companies the chance to pit their sporting prowess against others in a huge leaderboard.
An awareness-raising event was held at Kettering Council yesterday (Thursday, February 13) where people could try their hands, and feet, at a cycling challenge, have their reactions tested, have a health MOT and even a blood pressure test.
To sign up to the challenge as a company or individual, people need to visit www.workplacechallenge.org.uk and follow the instructions.
Valerie Hitchman, head of community services said, “I think it’s the perfect opportunity to build relationships within your organisations, whilst meeting other businesses in the borough.”
Cllr Jan Smith, Kettering Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Community and Culture, said: “Anyone can get involved with Workplace Challenge; it’s a great opportunity to boost your motivation and to keep fit.”
Northamptonshire Sport is getting extremely involved in Workplace Challenge. Sarah McVeigh, Physical Activity Coordinator from Northamptonshire Sport, said: “The Workplace Challenge roll out in Northamptonshire has so far been a great success.
“The challenge has really captured the imagination of workplaces across Northamptonshire to be more active in a fun yet competitive way.
“The more physical activity workers take part in, the more points they earn for their place of work – and points mean prizes!”
So far, Northamptonshire Sport has given out family swim vouchers, table tennis sets, personal training sessions and £10 vouchers – just for logging activities.
The workplace with the highest number of points will be crowned Northamptonshire’s Workplace Challenge winner on 23rd February.
Anyone registering in February is in with a chance of winning a Kindle Fire HD.
The winner will be drawn on February 28 at 5pm and announced on March 3.
People who have already signed up can refer a friend to enter, and be in with a chance of winning the Kindle Fire HD, by emailing email@example.com.
