A Kettering teenager has bid farewell to her long locks on behalf of charity.
Georgina Kibble, 18, had her hair shaved off at Wicksteed Park by hairdresser Elaine Ashby to support Cancer Research last week.
The park’s mascot Wicky Bear also joined in the fundraiser, having the first cut of Georgina’s hair.
The teenager has been raising money after being inspired by a friend’s mum’s battle with breast cancer – and she has already exceeded her £500 target.
She said: “It went really well. I had £50 donated on the day in addition to sponsorship money.
“I have reached £700 now. I wanted to reach £500 so I’m over the moon.”
The Southfield School pupil said she was getting used to her radical change of hairstyle, adding: “It was strange the first night but then you feel a breeze when you go outside and it’s really nice.”
Georgina also said her friend’s mum is now on the mend.
