The constituency, which includes Rushden and Higham Ferrers as well as Wollaston, Finedon, Great Doddington, Wilby and Irchester, has swung between Labour and the Tories over the years with Mr Bone winning the seat from Labour’s Paul Stinchcombe in 2005.

In the 1992 General election Phil Sawford, the father of current Corby MP Andy, contested the seat for Labour before winning Kettering in 1997.
