The current Corby MP, Labour’s Andy Sawford, retook the seat for his party in a by-election in 2012 called after the Conservative MP Louise Mensch stood down to go to live in America.

Hoping to win the seat back for the Tories is their candidate Tom Pursglove.

Also contesting the seat is UKIP MEP Margot Parker, who also stood for the party in the 2012 by-election, Peter Harris for the Liberal Democrats and Jonathan Hornett for the Green Party.

Andy Sawford has a majority of 7,791 after winning 48.4 per cent of the votes cast in the by-election.

Although the constituency’s official name is Corby it includes Irthlingborough, Lyveden, Oundle, Raunds, Ringstead, Stanwick, Thrapston and Woodford, among others.
