Latimer Arts College principal Siobhan Hearne said she is pleased with the efforts shown by students and staff after another positive set of GCSE results this year.

She said: “We have matched last year’s excellent results which is very pleasing, especially as there is a bit of turbulence in education at the moment.

“In the core subjects, English and maths, we think our results are going to be above the national average.”

Among those celebrating was India Robertson, 16, from Barton Seagrave.

India received four Cs and a BTEC qualification and will be going to Tresham College next year.

She said: “I am very proud of my results. I have got the grades I needed to get into the college course I want to do.

“I was awake at 6am because I was so nervous and the results were better than I was expecting.”

Ryan Harmon, 16, from Barton Seagrave, was also celebrating after receiving one A*, five As, one B and two Cs.

He said he will be staying at Latimer College to continue his A-level education.

Ryan added: “I am really, really happy.

“I got the results I needed to get into the courses I want to do so I was pleased with that.”
