Fire crews were called to Harrington Road in Rothwell after a passer-by found 40 empty Calor gas cylinders dumped on the side of the road.

The discovery was made at about 5.20pm today (Friday, February 8).

Fire crews from Rothwell and Desborough were called to the scene.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “We were called to an area of open land at Harrington Road in Rothwell. Crews from Rothwell and Desborough attended. They discovered 40 empty Calor gas cylinders.

“All of them had their valves removed and we made sure all of the cylinders were vented.

“They were made safe and there was no danger to the public.”
