GARDENERS will be able to get free advice at a Wellingborough garden centre this weekend on planting up beds and containers with traditional British-grown bedding and plug plants in time for the Jubilee celebrations.
A Plug Plant Weekend is taking place on Saturday and Sunday at Country Gardens Wellingborough to showcase young plants grown in Britain and to offer related planting tips.
General manager Anson Latimer said: “There has been a recent resurgence of interest in bedding and plug plants, which were exceptionally popular for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in the 1970s. People are looking to create traditional planting schemes using patriotic colours to mark the Diamond Jubilee weekend from June 2 until June 5.
“Those who attend our free weekend will be able to receive advice on what bedding and plug plants to grow and how they can bring colour to their gardens in time for the Jubilee celebrations.”
