The Electric Corby project and Corby Council has secured 100 per cent funding for firms which want to install the latest electric vehicle charging points for customers, staff and company vehicle fleets.
The aim of the project is to increase the use of renewable energy and sustainability in the borough.
Five charging posts, which can each charge two cars at the same time, have already been installed at Corby Cube car park, at the town’s train station and at Corby Enterprise Centre.
To help businesses understand the benefits and access support for installing the latest clean and green technologies, an information event is being held at Rockingham Forest Hotel on Wednesday, September 19.
Nick Bolton, project manager at Electric Corby, said: “With manufacturers launching a new electric or hybrid vehicle almost every week at the moment, this is an opportunity for Corby companies to find out what the business case is. “We’re also looking for the best 25 locations in Corby to install our 100 per cent funded charging points and invest in Corby’s clean technology infrastructure.”
Businesses will be able to hear and see more about how clean and green technologies can help their business and their customers and find out about the funding available for charging points at up to 25 companies in the town.
The event will include a talk on the case for electric vehicles, a demonstration of chargers and electric vehicles and information on how to successfully integrate electric vehicles into an existing fleet.
There will be a business breakfast networking event at 7.30am and people can also call in during the day, from 9am.
