A huge fundraising event is taking place at Kettering’s Wicksteed Park next month to raise money for the family of a former Corby woman who was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour just six months ago.
Catherine Anderson, 36, better known to friends and family as Cat, has been having regular treatment at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge since the diagnosis last August.
Since then, people have been organising fundraising events to help Cat’s family with travel and living costs, including the sponsored head shave of two of Cat’s cousins last month (pictured).
Laura Brown, of Kettering, whose husband is a childhood friend of Cat’s, has organised the Wicksteed Park event on Sunday, March 1.
She said: “About 300 tickets have already been sold.
“The fundraiser involves various activities like a treasure hunt, tea and cakes in the celebration suite, a huge variety of stalls, characters from Frozen, a ninja turtle and also the Little Mermaid.
“There will also be a bouncy castle for the kids, a live band and a raffle with lots of prizes from generous local businesses which the mayor of Kettering will be drawing.”
The event is running from 10am to 4pm.
Tickets cost £2 for adults and £1 for children and must be ordered from the organisers.
