A fun day featuring sporting activities takes place in Gretton on Sunday, July 8.
The family event at Gretton Multi-use Games Area off Kirby Road will include sack races, egg and spoin and tug of war. There will also be the chance to try netball and football.
It takes place on Sunday, July 8, at miidday until 4pm.
Tim Fox, Chairman of the Friends of Gretton Recreation Ground, said: “I hope that many families will come along and enjoy an entertaining afternoon with friends celebrating the use of this superb facility.
There are some great activities to try and there will be prizes to be won amongst all the fun. We have also arranged a bouncy castle, face painting and a number of village groups are bringing stalls, with music provided by Gretton Silver Band. There will be refreshments, including an ice cream van, and the Cricket Club is running a barbecue to keep us all full of energy.”
Adrenaline Alley will also be at the event and are inviting everybody to bring their bikes along for a free health check and free data tagging. This is worth £25 and is part of their initiative to help reduce cycle and shed theft.
Entry to the event is free and Tim added: “The event is being supported by the additional grant received from the Big Lottery Funds Community Spaces programme which has also funded the sports equipment and other activities seen on the MUGA in the first year. We are encouraging as many people as possible to use the facility and take advantage of the opportunities available.”
The Gretton MUGA has been funded through the Community Spaces programme which is being managed by Groundwork UK as an Award Partner to the Big Lottery Fund. Community Spaces is part of the Big Lottery Fund’s Changing Spaces initiative.
